Pickling or preserving food can be a life saver. For centuries people, preserved many types of food items such a veggies, fruits, and meats by letting them ferment over time. Certain food items don’t come cheap such as certain meats and certain produce items might be affected by a severe drought or serious infection. These days times are very unsure. In the US and in other global economies, there are horrible economic res cessions and possible depressions.
During The Great Depression in the 1930s’, nearly all food banks and bread lines were often filled with thousands of people in need of food. These centers were often overwhelmed and ran out of supplies and food. Many people would go home empty handed and walk away with small and insufficient rations. Families would often have food that is preserved or pickled in these harsh times. During the 1930s and toward the end of WWII, it was a everyday thing because so much food in the US was being used for the army and citizens received modest rations and took food from their own community gardens.
Pickling/Preseving foods is an endangered practice in the US. I’ve only seen older Americans do it, those who are the parents of baby boomers. Since there are so many fast food restaurants in American and so few Americans actually cook and buy from the grocery store often. Many people don’t know of preserving foods or how to make them. I really want to get into not just to save cash and be prepared for a disaster. Here are some popular choices and recipes on how to make them:
PICKLES(The most common one)

KIMCHI (Classic Korean Side Dish, that is very high in nutrients. It’s considered to be the healthiest food in the world. There are many variations of this dish, but this is best one to me)

SAUERKRAUT(I feel like I’m one of the very few non-German people who actually like the taste of Sauerkraut. It’s an acquired taste, I think it’s amazing. It is a great side with meat.

CHEESE(Yes, Cheese!)

DRYING FRUITS (When I was younger I used to be afraid of raisins and prunes. I would always think they resembled roaches or bugs. I love all dried fruits now!)

Making Alcohol (Hopefully, I don’t think it’s really legal to do this. But if shit happens and there are no stores with alcohol just do it yourself)

Why do people act so shocked when a politician or a leader cheats. Who cares? They are regular people just like me and you. No one is above everything. They are human. I’m not saying cheating on a spouse is okay, I think it is wrong. But just because the President or a local congressman cheats doesn’t make him worse than anyone else on this earth.
Why should a politician resign just because they cheated? To me cheating doesn’t mean you are not an effective leader. If that was the case than this country wouldn’t exist. I would rather have a unfaithful president who is effective and helping the country than a faithful president who goes to wars, embarrasses the U.S. and causes a recession. Just because a person cheats on their spouse doesn’t make them a horrible person. It is a mistake.
Most leaders, presidents, and royalty have mistresses and women on the side. With a man in position of power there is bond to be a mistress. It’s funny how people act as if cheating is a new thing. People will cheat on each other till the end of time. There is no stopping it. In the past years, no one batted an eye if a leader was cheating. People knew about it and not one gave a shit.
George Washington, on the eve of marrying Martha, confessed to Sally Fairfax, his best friend’s wife, that he was really in love with her.Thomas Jefferson also had his secrets. As a young man he attempted to seduce his neighbor’s wife, whom he was supposed to be looking after while her husband was away. And, of course, he may have had an affair with black slave Sally Hemings, though the facts remain in dispute.Andrew Jackson, unwittingly or not, married his wife Rachel while she was still legally married to her previous husband.
The list of those who concealed a history of sexual misbehavior includes both Democrats and Republicans, well-known Lotharios and strait-laced Presbyterians, among them: James Garfield, Woodrow Wilson, Warren Harding, Franklin Roosevelt, John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson. All deliberately contrived to leave the false impression with the public that they were good family men who never strayed.
Wilson, for example, almost certainly cheated on his first wife Ellen Axson while on vacation in Bermuda. Teddy Roosevelt was advised by friends in 1916 to smear Wilson’s reputation through an adroit lead to the press, but declined, on practical grounds. “You can’t cast a man as a Romeo,” he explained, “who looks and acts so much like an apothecary’s clerk.”
Harding’s cheating was legendary. He reportedly had sex just outside his office in the White House with Nan Britton, a young woman who had idolized him since high school and who eventually had a child by him.Kennedy, of course, had numerous affairs.Of course Clinton lied about his affair also.
In real life sometimes even the Good Guys Lie.
